The Opportunity Card page of the German Missions in Nigeria has a heading called "Proof of job search". It asks for proof of a recent job place search in Germany.
The page gives these as examples ("e.g.") and ends the list with "etc.":

Where does job-search proof go on the Lagos checklist?
Job search is item 9 on the Lagos Opportunity Card checklist (status June 2026): "Proof of recent job/vocational training place search in Germany". It sits after your CV (item 7) and letter of motivation (item 8). The blocked account or declaration of commitment comes next, as item 10.
Lagos wants your application sorted in that order. All documents go in as both copy and original, copies must be black and white, and nothing should be stapled. The checklist says incomplete and unsorted applications will not be accepted.

What the German Embassy in Accra asks for
Accra asks for the same thing. The German Embassy in Accra lists "Proof of recent job/vocational training place search in Germany" among the documents for the application through the Consular Service Portal. Its examples match Nigeria's: email correspondence about applications, job offers, agency enquiries, and "etc.".
For the appointment itself, Accra says the Consular Service Portal will give you the list of originals to bring.

How many applications are enough?
The Nigeria and Accra pages do not give a number. They ask for a "recent" search and don't say how recent. We checked the Nigeria Opportunity Card page, the Lagos checklist and the Accra page on 2 November 2026.
What applicants report
Lack of concrete job-search evidence is the refusal reason Lagos applicants quote most often, in reports from late 2025 to 2026. They describe cases with no applications, no named professions or employers, or an applicant saying at the interview that no job interviews had happened yet. Applicants refused on this ground include some who say they had told the officer about their online applications.
One applicant interviewed at Lagos in August 2026 shared a summary of their refusal letter. One of the reasons they listed was no evidence of concrete job applications in Germany. This is their summary, not the letter's wording, and one case.
Outside Nigeria and Ghana, an applicant at a VFS centre in India posted a video in December 2024. He says he was asked whether he had started applying to German companies and had any replies. If the officer asks for evidence, he says, you can be given about 30 or 40 minutes to go out and print your applications and replies.
No Lagos applicant reports this. Lagos applicants say phones are locked away at the appointment, so print everything before you go.
